This original antique watercolor depicts a tranquil forest landscape with towering trees, soft woodland vegetation and a distant view through the trees. Delicate washes of green, blue, brown and muted coral give the scene an atmospheric, almost dreamlike quality.
The painting is signed along the lower edge and dated 1921. It is presented beneath glass in an old dark-stained wood frame with a deep green mat or liner.
The reverse retains its aged backing, a handwritten inscription and an old American Express Co., Boston, Mass. “Paid” label—wonderful details that speak to the piece’s long history.
A lovely addition to a collected gallery wall, library, cottage bedroom, study or any room that could use a small piece of genuine antique landscape art.
