Antique Wicker Sewing Basket on Stand with Domed Lid

Part sewing basket, part side table, entirely charming.

This antique wicker sewing stand features a woven domed lid, a hinged storage basket, delicate side handles, and a lower shelf for keeping works in progress close at hand.

The basket and decorative trim are woven in varied wicker patterns over a wood frame, while tightly wrapped legs and graceful arched supports give the piece its wonderfully delicate silhouette. Decorative looped motifs across the lid and front add just the right amount of flourish.

Similar sewing stands are often associated with the American wicker furniture made by Heywood Brothers, Wakefield, and later Heywood-Wakefield. This example is unmarked, so it is offered in the style of Heywood-Wakefield rather than as a confirmed company production.

Originally intended for sewing, needlework, and mending supplies, it could now hold knitting, linens, stationery, or other small treasures—or simply serve as a sculptural accent beside a chair.
