This substantial vintage Mottahedeh porcelain punch bowl and centerpiece bowl is decorated with colorful birds, butterflies, flowering branches, a graphic Greek-key border, and a gilt rim.
The porcelain body was made in Japan and decorated in Hong Kong for Mottahedeh, reflecting the company’s long tradition of adapting historic porcelain designs for beautifully collected interiors.
At approximately 14½ inches across, it has the scale to anchor a dining table, center a large console, fill a cabinet or sit beautifully on a substantial stack of books. The saturated colors and strong border give it presence without making it difficult to place.
