Dating to approximately 1840–1850, these English transferware dinner plates feature Don Pottery’s wonderfully elaborate “Persian” pattern in a soft mulberry-purple. A bird rests among abundant fruit and foliage at the center, surrounded by floral cartouches, lace-like detailing and extravagant paisley motifs.

The printed “Persian B.” backstamp is documented on pieces attributed to Samuel Barker of Don Pottery in Swinton, Yorkshire. More than 175 years old, the pattern is seldom encountered in this dinner-plate form—and the unusual mulberry color makes it particularly decorative.

Beautiful displayed together in a china cabinet, flanking a mirror or beginning a collected plate wall. They are offered as decorative antiques rather than everyday dinnerware.

Good decorative antique condition with strong, beautifully legible transfer decoration. Both plates show localized rim loss and chipping, documented in the close-up photographs, along with expected age-related surface wear, firing irregularities and scattered marks. Because of their age and condition, these plates are recommended for decorative display rather than regular food service.
