Pair of Antique Neoclassical Painted Wood Architectural Panels

Sourced in Maine and making its way home to Florida for final photography and preparation. No presales or holds.
Not all of us get to live in a Georgian house. Fortunately, architectural salvage lets us borrow a little of the character.
This pair of antique painted wood panels features a beautifully restrained neoclassical design, with simple rectangular moldings framing raised concentric roundels.
The worn white-painted surfaces have the wonderfully layered character that only comes with age—crackling, rubbing, exposed wood and all. Believed to date to the 19th century, the panels were likely once part of interior paneling or another fitted architectural element.
Now removed from their original setting, they make distinctive sculptural wall art. Hang them side by side, stack them vertically or use them to flank a mirror, doorway or cabinet.
The reverse sides retain an old teal-painted finish, evidence that these pieces have already lived more than one decorative life.
Sourced in Kennebunk, Maine, during the Risa Cermak Interiors summer buying trip.
