Set of Four Vintage Thai Hand-Carved Wooden Musician Figures

Quite possibly the most charming band we’ve ever booked.

This complete set of four vintage Thai musician figures is individually hand-carved and hand-painted in softly aged shades of pale blue, cream, black and red.

Each kneeling musician has a wonderfully distinct face and holds a different instrument, representing percussion, bowed-string and plucked-string forms. Each figure has been carved with different facial features, giving every member of the ensemble an individual personality. Displayed together, they create a lively folk-art scene with tremendous charm.

The timeworn painted surfaces and small irregularities of the hand carving give the group the collected character we love. Style them across a console, bookcase or mantel—or let the entire ensemble hold court on a single shelf. Our favorite is to display on individual brackets on a wall. 

Attributed to Thailand and likely dating from the early-to-mid 20th century.
