Description

A magazine rack with ambitions.

This wonderfully decorative vintage stand combines the sculptural look of tortoiseshell bamboo with the strength of a metal frame. The divided upper section keeps books, magazines, records, or rolled towels upright, while the woven lower shelf provides additional room for smaller books, decorative objects, or everyday necessities.

The integrated handle and tall, narrow proportions give it the charm of an old-fashioned portable bookstand, while its warm, mottled finish brings unmistakable Old Florida character.

Condition

Nice, as-found vintage condition with age-appropriate wear to the original painted finish. Scattered small nicks, scratches, and areas of finish loss are present, particularly along the handle, rails, joints, and feet, as shown in the detailed photographs.

The frame appears structurally sound, and the woven lower shelf remains intact. The visible wear is consistent with age and use and contributes to the piece’s relaxed vintage character.
